Are you gaining weight because you're hibernating?

Great article by Doc Gurley

What if the real reason Americans are gaining more and more weight is because we, as mammals, are unintentionally putting ourselves into hibernation mode? That's a theory that's being thrown around. So how does this work?

There are (at least) two common types of fats in our diets - omega-3s and omega-6s. Well, those and what I think of as the Frankenfat, called transfats - those are fats that have been chemically altered to make them less biodegradable (think of them as a sort of burned, charcoaled fat). Omega-3s occur in leafy greens, flax seeds, and fish (among other foods). You can think of omega-3s as "spring" fats. Omega-6s, in contrast, occur mostly in fall-harvested foods - corn oils, grains, soybean and cottonseed oils, among others. Some decent animal research shows that the signal to hibernate in mammals occurs when the diet shifts from mostly omega-3 ("spring") fats to mostly omega-6 ("fall") fats.

Our industrialized human diet has changed dramatically in just a couple of generations. Omega-3s are almost non-existent in the average American diet. We've not only got omega-6s saturating our diet everywhere, 24/7, season after season, but we've also got the technology to dunk anything we want, any time, in a hot vat of omega-6s. If you believe the omega-6 hibernation theory, that means we're giving ourselves a depth-charge signal to hibernate every time we order "fries with that."

What's more, we've changed equally dramatically the way we raise our meat in the same time-frame. Instead of grass-fed meat, we're now gorging our livestock year-round on omega-6 packed grains. That means that, instead of eating the spring lamb or the fatted calf - which were meant to help us survive the last gasps of winter - we're eating, year round, what was supposed to be rare, fall-slaughtered meats. Are we all chowing down all the time on hibernation-signaling omega-6-marbled roasts?

Although it's not part of the original hibernation theory, I would add the potential role of vitamin D. Vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin, drops as the seasons change. Vitamin D is associated with weight gain, and - independent of weight - also associated with higher blood pressure and diabetes. Our lifestyles also have changed dramatically in the same few generations until almost all of us are now living completely indoors and behind glass. Most of us are now low on vitamin D year-round - and some of us dramatically low, which may be a double-whammy of hibernation signals.

Sheesh - so what's a person to do? Even without hard science to prove the theory, even just as a way of thinking about what we eat, the hibernation-signal theory can be a good motivator to make some positive changes for our health. For many MANY health reasons, it's important to make the shift to more omega-3s. It's time we all treat our body like a valuable car and ask ourselves - have you changed the oil lately? You can think of trans-fats as a kind of gritty, cheap oil that can clog your engine. Omega-6s are like a cleaner oil, but still thick and sluggish. Omega-3s, in contrast, are the premium-grade, light and lubricating stuff - worth the extra money to keep your internal engine running smoothly. Keep in mind, however, that our fish are often contaminated with mercury, so - especially if you're pregnant (or wanting to become pregnant), you want to limit your fish intake.

And, for many MANY other health reasons, it's also important to get your blood vitamin D level checked - and to keep it in the normal range.

Those simple health moves will do your body some good. And I, for one, don't want to hibernate my life away...

How important is getting enough omega-3 fatty acids? Very, according to a report in the Public Library of Science Medicine Journal. Harvard researchers looked at twelve dietary, lifestyle and metabolic risk factors such as tobacco smoking and high blood pressure and used a mathematical model to determine how many fatalities could have been prevented if people took control of their health. Amazingly, they found that between 72,000 and 96,000 preventable deaths each year due to omega-3 deficiency. (Danaei G et al. PLoS Med. 2009 Apr 28;6(4):e1000058.)

We think we know why. The scientific community continues to find good stuff that omega-3 fatty acids do for our bodies. Just take the following latest findings that have been published:

Omega-3s Decrease Inflammation

Researchers from the Nutrition, Metabolism and Genomics Group at Wageningen University found that after six months of fish oil intervention, healthy elderly subjects had less inflammation markers in their blood. The study is said to be the first to show that DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) can affect gene expression to a more anti-inflammatory status. (Bouwens M. et al. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 90:415-424. doi: 10.3945/ajcn.2009.27680.)

Omega-3s Could Save Your Eyesight

Researchers from the National Eye Institute in Bethesda found that a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids could help prevent age-related macular degeneration. Omega-3s were shown to retard the progression of lesions in a mouse model of age-related macular degeneration. The omega-3s were also associated with an improvement in some lesions. (Tuo J. et al., American Journal of Pathology. 175: 799-807, doi:10.2353/ajpath.2009.090089.)

Omega-3s Keep You Thin

New findings reported in the British Journal of Nutrition indicate that overweight and obese people have blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids almost one percent lower than people with a healthy weight. (Micallef M., et al. British Journal of Nutrition. Published online ahead of print, doi: 10.1017/S0007114509382173.)

The Anti-Aging Bottom Line: Why become a statistic? Take supplemental omega-3s to keep you living a long and healthy life. In addition to the research presented here, scientists have found that omega-3s also have brain and heart benefits. To make sure that you’re reaping their rewards, take at least 500 - 800 mg of omega-3s daily.

I thought this article was really interesting and she referenced where she gathered her info. As always, take a look at MILA, the best Omega 3's from a plant source, no fish oil no flax seed, sugar and gluten free. Amazing product, you can find out more info at www.lifemaxtammy.com or www.whatiflifemax.com Enjoy!

Thanks for the support on my daughter

How time flies when you are having fun and/or dealing with a child who has an accident. It is amazing how fast a week can go by when your life is turned upside down. Many of you know that my daughter had an accident at work and broke her jaw in two places. She works at at an ice cream parlour ( I know!) and got hit in the face with a spring loaded handle the size of a baseball bat on a walk in freezer. I tell you that is not a call that you want to get at midnight on Friday night nor do you want to spend Friday night at the emergency room, we were the last ones to leave at 5am. She had surgery 4 days later and had two plates put on each side of her jaw and her mouth wired shut well almost she can open it about an inch. She has 6 weeks of this and then a whole year until her jaw is fully recovered. The first 48 hours after surgery were horrible for her and for me, it was like having a newborn baby, every 3 hours she needed to be fed something so she could take the pain medication. She is doing much better a week later and got to drive for the first time in over a week so she is happy.

On a happy note Lifemax is going well and we are in the home stretch for our big convention coming up in November. You may want to check out our new site www.whatiflifemax.com that explains more in detail about the Lifemax product Mila which has the highest form of Omega 3's from a plant source. Because the product is tasteless and orderless it makes a great alternative to fish oil and/or flax seed. Also helps reduce inflammation which was a big help in getting my daughters face back to normal.

How 4000 followers on Twitter landed me on the Dr. Phil Show

Here is the deal! I am a coach/real estate trainer that is passionate about getting our kids healthier! I coach newer real estate agents and have been on Facebook for about a year I am sure you could tell me the exact date! LOL

My coaching clients were asking me what is Twitter and I didnt know. Since I coach newer real estate agents and I know this has nothing to do with my blog other than that are a lot of newer Realtors that are moms, I wanted to go in there as an unknown. Not as a 20 year veteran of real estate, not as a top real estate coach for the last 5 years, so I promoted Lifemax and got 4000 followers in less than 90 days by conversation not content.

With that being said, Dr. Phil was looking for peeps on Twitter that were in the LA area hmmm that would be me so I filled out the form and the producers called me the next day!

The taping was so much fun, what a production that was. I got to meet Robin his wife too and she is just as sweet in person as she is on TV. His staff was amazing and being on the Paramount studio was quite a treat!

Mila compared to other Chia products: All Chia is not created equal

Mila compared to other Chia products: All Chia is not created equal. It
matters where it is grown, the altitude, the rainfall, the climate, soil, etc. Mila is the only Chia product providing a blend of seeds, each grown in the most nutritious areas of the world. No one strain on Chia offers high amounts of all of the nutrients - Omega 3s, antioxidants, phytonutrients, fiber and protein. By creating this blend of seeds, grown in multiple countries, you are ensured that Mila offers the highest amount of each vital nutrient. No other Chia on the market provides this quality. Equally, our seeds are sliced through a patented process available only to Lifemax, developed by Dr. Wayne Coates, “The Father of Chia”, who works exclusively for Lifemax. Slicing makes the nutrients more bio-available.

Grinding actually damages the oil in the seed. Dr. Coates is responsible for having planted every commercial crop available today. He knows personally which locations are the best and which seeds are the most nutritious. All other brands available on the market today did not meet his standards for quality. No other company on the market today guarantees the nutrition provided in their seed through outside independent laboratory testing. No other company offers the blend and slicing and thereby the nutrition and bio-availability provided by Lifemax. If you want to
put the best-available quality into your body, Mila by Lifemax is the only choice.

When comparing brands, ask the other companies for the proof of outside laboratory
testing, verifying that their seed has been tested for quality, nutritional content and cleanliness. They cannot provide it. It matters who you trust and what you put into your body. Trust the only company paying to have the outside testing and nutritional quality verified. Trust Lifemax.

Fish oils (Omega 3's) are the best defense against heart disease

Written by Adrian Wozniak

Fish and omega-3 fish oils are the most powerful defenses against heart disease – and they can help prevent a fatal heart attack in people with existing heart problems, even if they’ve had one attack already.

Eating oily fish such as salmon, sardine, trout and herring, and supplementing with omega-3 oils, can dramatically reduce your risk of developing a range of heart problems, such as atherosclerosis, arrhythmia, heart attack, and cardiac failure.

And if you have had a heart attack, you reduce your risk of second one by 30 per cent by increasing your fish oil intake.

These findings are based on a major review of previous studies going back 30 years. Head researcher Carl Lavie, of Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans, recommends that healthy people consume 500 mg of omega-3 fish oils, which contain EPA and DHA, every day, while those with an existing heart problem should double their daily intake to 1000 mg.

___________________
With this being studied and known, for those that hate taking fish oil supplements or are allegic to fish or a vegetarian (wow that was bad english oh well) MILA is a perfect blend of chia to give you the highest dose of Omega 3's you can find from a plant source. You can order on www.lifemaxtammy.com, come in as a preferred customer and save $5 (hey it is $5 that is a Starbucks :) Thanks for your interest Tammy

I just booked my dream vacation!

I just booked my trip to Orlando for the Lifemax convention in November! We are actually going to stay for a week and take the kids to Walt Disney world and Sea World. I know a lot of families who are not taking vacations this year because of loss of job or their income being way down, so I feel fortunate that Lifemax found me so I can provide for my family for years to come.

It is really interesting to me how ignorant some people still are about the network marketing industry. I was just talking to a past coaching client of mine who is dead broke, looking for a part time job, and doesnt even have enough money to put gas in his car. I presented him this opportunity a few months back and he said it wasnt for him. I can respect that but here we are two months later and he is still struggling financially. My attitude is okay maybe Lifemax isnt for you, but there are a ton of great companies out there that are promoting a product or service thru network marketing.

I have personally met some of the most amazing individuals in this industry, and I can tell you if is not what it used to be. Everyone is looking to make extra money these days, heck the guy that got me involved in Lifemax was a self made millionaire at 32! He said to me "you know what Tam, the biggest mistake I made these past few years was not working on my passive and residual income and putting all my eggs in one basket, that would be real estate!"

Possibly you are in the same boat. Lifemax provides an amazing product that everyone needs. It is a front runner in the industry being a whole raw food. If you are looking for another source of income with great leadership go to my personal website www.lifemaxtammy.com for more information.

Lifemax just launched in Oct 08, and there is lots of room for growth. We are currently looking for fun, energetic, happy people that want to make a difference in the lives of others. I look forward to talking with you soon!

As long as it takes
here is a thought I received from a friend in real estate and wanted to pass it on because it relates to all of us in any business...

What if you knew that you could reach your goal by taking
just one more step? Would you take that step?

At some point in the process of achievement, the final
hurdle is reached. What a shame it would be to stop just
short of that one last obstacle.

Achievement does not require extraordinary ability.
Achievement comes from ordinary abilities applied with
extraordinary persistence.

You already know you can do what it takes. To reach any
goal, simply do what it takes for as long as it takes.

It's really not that difficult to take just one step, to do
just a single task, to make one bit of progress. And if you
can do it once, you can do it again, and again, and again
without much problem.

Keep the faith and keep up the effort. Your persistence will
get you there.

Cheers and Hugs!

Jim and Sherri Wear-who they are and why you want to know them!

I had the opportunity to meet the founders of Lifemax this past weekend! What a dynamo pair they are, and probably one of the most humble couples I have met. First I met them at a BBQ at John Tuckers home in Encino which is just amazing. There was only about 30 people there but it was great to see them in a social setting, they are as normal as any of us an it is hard to believe that such a young couple could start up this company! Jim and Sherri come from a real estate background so we ofcouse instantly hit it off. Jim is super funny, charming and willing to share his knowledge of what he knows about MILA and his and Sherri vision. Sherri could not be any cuter and any more genuine.

The next day I got meet with them privately. Since our meeting was in LA and I was headed to the beach I had my 19 yr old daughter and two year old with me. We met in the lobby of their hotel as my 19 yr old chased my 2 year old around and kept interrupting us every 10 minutes, Jim and Sherri were not even phrased by it, in fact Sherri could not get enough of my little boy as she was missing hers! As I sat with them their mission is crystal clear, the want to feed the world with this product. We can literally change the health and wealth of the world through MILA. MILA contains the highest levels of Omega 3 fatty acids. It is classified by the FDA as a whole raw food. It is inexpensive, a little over a $1 a day to take, easy to ship, tasteless and orderless so no need to change any habits or behaviors on how you take it. It is really a no brainer to me. I mix it in almost everything I eat and/or cook it is that easy.

To learn more about Jim and Sherri, go to www.youtube.com and type in Lifemax, several of their videos will pop up.

to learn more about Lifemax and MILA go to www.lifemaxtammy.com Enjoy :)

Great testimonial from Dr. Mitch Davis on MILA

Testimonial from Dr. Mitch Davis

On a personal note, Mila has made significant improvements in my health. I have genetic hypertriglyceridemia, and take 3 medications to control my lipids. However, the best reading for my LDL (”bad cholesterol”) was 120. After 6 weeks using Mila, my LDL was 80, and my HDL (”good cholesterol”) rose from 50 to 65. Both of these are cardioprotective. Despite supplementing with Co-Q 10 while I take statins, I was still having problems with my memory and concentration. Within a short period after starting Mila, I noticed a marked improvement in my mental capacity. In addition, I have an improvement in my overall energy level.

Patient testimonials:
I have had many of my patients report improvement in their acid reflux symptoms, and several patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome have improved while taking Mila. I find Mila useful to improve constipation, and am using Mila for my patients with fatty liver, both to support a weight loss regimen, and because omega-3’s reduce hepatic lipogenesis.

My most dramatic testimonial involves a young woman who has Systemic Lupus Erythematosis, who is Rheumatoid factor positive. She was regularly having severe flare-ups, and associated joint inflammation. These symptoms required her to use 8-10 narcotic based pain medications, as well as non-steroidal anti-inflammatories daily. Her energy levels were very poor; she could no longer exercise and was frequently calling out sick from her work. After using Mila for 2 months, and since that time, her flare-ups are minimal, her pain medication and anti-inflammatory use is markedly reduced. In addition, her hair is growing in thicker, and her energy levels have improved to the point where she is getting to the gym, as well as running again. In her words, “Mila has given me back my life.”

Have you seen the movie Food Inc? Great article review of this movie!

You are what you eat: 'Food, Inc.'
Posted by Shawn Levy, The Oregonian June 19, 2009 04:39AM

Showing a film such as "Food, Inc." to an audience that has already purchased its buttered popcorn, jugs of soda and boxes of Mike and Ikes and Sno Caps seems slightly evil. I'm reminded of Edmund O'Brien in the first scene of "D.O.A." telling the police that he has been murdered: The damage has been done before the opening credits have rolled.

"Food, Inc." is an expose of the food we grow and eat, revealing the policies that shape agricultural trends; the provenance of the seeds from which our corn and wheat and soy are grown; the processes by which beef, poultry and pork products are raised and brought to market; the state of food safety inspection and regulation; the labor conditions in the agriculture and food preparation businesses; the marketing and packaging that guide our food choices; the impact of diet on individuals and whole populations; and more.

We've had a spate of movies with similar themes in recent years, all telling us that we eat poorly and that we're being hoodwinked by corporations that are in cahoots with political powers, including the documentaries "Super Size Me," "King Corn," "The Future of Food" and "Our Daily Bread," and the feature film "Fast Food Nation."

That last one was an adaptation of journalist Eric Schlosser's book of the same name, one of the first widely digested attacks on the American way of eating. Schlosser is a producer of "Food, Inc." and appears as one of its principal talking heads, as does Michael Pollan, the author of "The Omnivore's Dilemma" and "In Defense of Food," two other key texts in the burgeoning movement to remake the food system into something more rational and healthy.

Director Robert Kenner allows these two ample room for their ideas about the dangers, health risks, political machinations and just plain illogical practices of modern food production.

These are illustrated with visits to chicken farmers (some in the corporate industrial system, some working all naturally on their own), to an organic yogurt magnate, to the fields and homes of farmers who want to collect the seeds from their crops rather than buy genetically modified (and patented) seeds from litigious corporations, to trailer parks where the undocumented immigrants who work at meat-packing plants are rousted by immigration agents, to the halls of Congress, where a woman wages a campaign for stricter food inspections in the wake of the death of her young son, who ate contaminated ground beef.

The film makes its points in several ways. There are disturbing images of the production -- the only word for it -- of cattle and chickens in deplorable conditions and the industrial treatment of meat with ammonia and chlorine to fight the bacteria that results from these breeding practices. There are attacks on the influence of corporate interests on farm/food policy. There are also sentimental tugs on the heartstrings which rather overload an already loaded deck.

Kenner mounts it all with a pleasingly fluent and varied style, which makes it more or less easy to absorb his arguments, even if they're familiar from other books and movies and are presented with unopposed certainty. Indeed, the closing credits are a zealous call to consumer action. Probably, though, by then you'll already have been convinced in your heart of hearts that Mike and Ike are truly not your friends.

I have heard MSG is bad-but this article is horrifying!

This article was forwarded to me by my whole raw food guru Jennie at www.jensrawtruth.com great important info for everyone!

Slow Poison...

MSG The food additive MSG (Mono-Sodium Glutamate) is a slow poison. MSG
hides behind 25 or more names, such as "Natural Flavouring."

MSG is even in your favourite coffee from Tim Horton's and other
brand-name coffee shops!

I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive
obesity epidemic, and so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He was a
research assistant at the University of Waterloo in Ontario , Canada ,
and spent years working for the government. He made an amazing
discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was
writing called The Slow Poisoning of America.

In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese
mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat
or mice is naturally obese, so scientists have to create them. They
make these creatures morbidly obese by injecting them with MSG when they
are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas
creates, causing rats (and perhaps humans) to become obese. They even
have a name for the fat rodents they create: "MSG-Treated Rats."

When I heard this, I was shocked. I went into my kitchen and checked
the cupboards and the refrigerator. MSG was in everything -- the
Campbell 's soups, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavoured potato chips,
Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy, Swanson
frozen prepared meals, and Kraft salad dressings, especially the
"healthy low-fat" ones.

The items that didn't have MSG marked on the product label had something
called "Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein," which is just another name for
Monosodium Glutamate.

It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children
everyday are filled with this stuff. MSG is hidden under many different
names in order to fool those who read the ingredient list, so that they
don't catch on. (Other names for MSG are "Accent, "Aginomoto," "Natural
Meat Tenderizer," etc.)

But it didn't stop there.

When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the restaurants
what menu items contained MSG. Many employees, even the managers, swore
they didn't use MSG.

But when we ask for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided,
sure enough, MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere.

Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant -- even
the sit-down eateries like TGIF, Chili's, Applebee's, and Denny's -- use
MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST
offender: MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing. and gravy. No
wonder I loved to eat that coating on the skin -- their secret spice was
MSG!

So why is MSG in so many of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative, or
a vitamin?

Not according to my friend John Erb. In his book The Slow Poisoning of
America, he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it
has on the human body.

Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby
group supporting MSG explains that the reason they add it to food is to
make people eat more.

A study of the elderly showed that older people eat more of the foods
that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobbying group says
eating more is a benefit to the elderly, but what does it do to the rest
of us?

Betcha can't eat [just] one," takes on a whole new meaning where MSG is
concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight!

MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their
products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes
people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added.

Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an
addictive substance. Since its introduction into the American food
supply fifty years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger doses to
the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks, and fast foods we are tempted to
eat everyday.

The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food. They
claim it's safe to eat in any amount. But how can they claim it's safe
when there are hundreds of scientific studies with titles like these:

"The monosodium glutamate (MSG) obese rat as a model for the study of
exercise in obesity." Gobatto CA, Mello MA, Souza CT, Ribeiro IA. Res
Commun Mol Pathol Pharmacol. 2002.

Adrenalectomy abolishes the food-induced hypothalamic serotonin release
in both normal and monosodium glutamate-obese rats." Guimaraes RB,
Telles MM, Coelho VB, Mori C, Nascimento CM, Ribeiro. Brain Res Bull.
2002 Aug.

Obesity induced by neonatal monosodium glutamate treatment in
spontaneously hypertensive rats: An animal model of multiple risk
factors." Iwase M, Yamamoto M, Iino K, Ichikawa K, Shinohara N,
Yoshinari Fujishima. Hypertens Res. 1998 Mar.

Hypothalamic lesion induced by injection of monosodium glutamate in
suckling period and subsequent development of obesity." Tanaka K,
Shimada M, Nakao K Kusunoki. Exp Neurol. 1978 Oct.

No, the date of that last study was not a typo; it was published in
1978. Both the "medical research community" and ?food manufacturers"
have known about the side effects of MSG for decades.

Many more of the studies mentioned in John Erb's book link MSG to
diabetes, migraines and headaches, autism, ADHD, and even Alzheimer's.

So what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumping this
fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the obesity
epidemic we now see?

Several months ago, John Erb took his book and his concerns to one of
the highest government health officials in Canada . While he was sitting
in the government office, the official told him, "Sure, I know how bad
MSG is. I wouldn't touch the stuff." But this top-level government
official refuses to tell the public what he knows.

The big media doesn't want to tell the public either, fearing issues
with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on the fast food
industry may hurt their profit margin. The food producers and
restaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, and now
we are paying the price for it. Our children should not be cursed with
obesity caused by an addictive food additive.

But what can I do about it? I'm just one voice! What can I do to stop
the poisoning of our children, while our governments are insuring
financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us?

This message is going out to everyone I know in an attempt to tell you
the truth that the corporate-owned politicians and media won't tell you.

The best way you can help to save yourself and your children from this
drug-induced epidemic is to forward this article to everyone. With any
luck, it will circle the globe before politicians can pass the
legislation protecting those who are poisoning us.

The food industry learned a lot from the tobacco industry. Imagine if
big tobacco had a bill like this in place before someone blew the
whistle on nicotine?

If you are one of the few who can still believe that MSG is good for us
and you don't believe what John Erb has to say, see for yourself. Go to
the National Library of Medicine at
www.pubmed.com. Type in the words

"MSG Obese" and read a few of the 115 medical studies that appear.

We the public do not want to be rats in one giant experiment, and we do
not approve of food that makes us into a nation of obese, lethargic,
addicted sheep, feeding the food industry's bottom line while waiting
for the heart transplant, the diabetic-induced amputation, blindness, or
other obesity-induced, life-threatening disorders.

With your help we can put an end to this poison.

NEW MISSION THESE MOMS NEED OUR HELP!

To be honest I would of never thought I would be put in this position but am so grateful. I have been on Twitter for about a month and have been befriended by some really great people Jeffrey Summers and Kate Buck just to name a few. A few days ago I posted something, just having fun with my toddler and a military mom replied back how lucky I was and it struck me, she has 4 kids little ones and no TV. I am not a big TV fan however it would be nice to put my two 7 years olds and my 3 year in front of Disney so I could breastfeed my newborn in peace, that is what she is dealing with, no TV I could not imagine! I put out a shout out on Twitter and had so many people want to help and we are getting her a TV.

Then I was talking to another mom that has 4 boys under 6 who is totally abused and trying to get out of the state. Honestly I thought OMG what did I start another mom looking for help but doesnt really need it, boy was I wrong, I checked her posts and am feeling so guilty that I even thought that! Her husband raped her, she has a restraining order and you know the story the courts are doing nothing! Her 7 year old twins are sleeping on the floor, I made a contact in Utah tonight to get them a mattress but the moms goal is to be in California where her family and friends are but cant afford to do so. I am personally fronting $100 to get her here would love your help!

Thanks so much!

Is Mila really the “Healthiest food on the Planet?”

Here’s what the founders Jim and Sherri Wear said when asked about Mila being the Healthiest food on the Planet. When Dr. Wayne Coates went to the FDA , who granted Food status to Mila, he presented the Mila as the healthiest food on the planet. After 18 years of research on this and other foods, he truly believes this. They did not dispute that and they feel justified in stating it...Suffice to say it is a unique superfood, considered by some to be the healthiest food available.

All Chia is not created equal. We have exceptional proprietary blending of different seeds that creates the high nutritional content and the process is overseen by Dr. Coates who has done all the definitive research on Chia, was the rediscoverer of the seed in 1991 and is the foremost expert in the world. We have meticulous quality control, micro-slicing for bioavailability ,and we are creating a business in which we make .50 on every dollar with an infrastructure that supports a World Vision.

You can purchase a bottle of wine for $6 and a bottle of wine for $6000. Grapes differ in quality depending upon where they’re grown, temperatures, altitudes, etc.. It’s the same for Chia. Don’t be lured in by a cheap price when you have no idea whatsoever what quality you’re putting into your body. It won’t kill you, but you may be eating something that has no nutritional value whatsoever.

My new assistant isnt working out Help!

I woke up a 5 am so I could get some work done before my asst work up. I wish I could get up that early every morning, I journaled did my 10/10 exercise and read a chapter from 3 books that I am currently reading Think like a Lady Act like a Man, Heart and Sold, and the other one I cant even spell it some raw food guru book, still learning on that one.

It was the most productive 3 hours of my day! Then my asst woke up, my little cutie pie helper that loves to copy over and over, staple or try to, and and highlight my contact list for the day. And while I love this most of the time because I think he is so funny, but now EVERY time the phone rings he answers it!

Now while the majority of my clients think it is cute they dont think it is so cute when he screams at the top of his lungs because I took the phone away from him.

So I had to take him to lunch, we went and had sushi, you know a public place is always best to fire someone like in the movie Jerry Macguire. We had a good talk, he agreed I rather just play with mommy than work with mommy!

How I almost lost my baby from making my house smell clean

about a week ago I wanted to buy a product that would make my house smell clean and my 13 year old room who sleeps with is dog smell better. I was at Bed Bath and Beyond and picked up a oil woodstick diffuser which are very popular right now.

My husband (third time is a charm, that is a whole new blog in itself, have the Christie Brinkley syndrome LOL!) says to me isnt that what almost killed Drake, and I was like OMG you are so right.

so here is the deal 10+ years ago when my 13 year old son was 18 mos, I know the math isnt right but just work with me on this one, it was mothers day and my husband at the time was making me breakfast before I got up and was letting me sleep in, Drake 18 mos at that time took the dipstick of the liquid candle and put it into his mouth, soon after he started to develop a weird cough and within a hour was having trouble breathing.

Note this was a baby that I had with a heart problem and went home without my baby as he spent 10 days in ICU.

We immediately called Poison control and they had a team waiting for us at the hospital, on the way there I was just trying to keep him awake, to be honest we did not know what had happened at that point, by the time we got to the hospital he was totally lifeless, in a coma like state, and the doctors could do nothing except keep him stable, the oil had evaporated in his lungs and he had no room to breathe and had a heart problem on top of that.

I called my parents who flew from California the next day, my baby was still in a coma like state, not responding a machine helping him breathe, and then 48hours later he came too, luckily for us, when my parents came my baby had just opened his eyes for the first time in 48 hours and just asked for some juice.

To this day he still has scar tissue on his lungs from the incident, so tell every mom you know grandparents you know, this is not worth your house smelling good, but just like I did the other day we dont realize the dangers and/or chemicals we put out there for our babies/toddlers to be exposed too!

So Who Is taking Mila and what is it anyways?

So I learned today that the SHAQ himself, yes Shaquille O'Neal professional basketball player with the Phoenix Suns and former Laker SUPERSTAR is consuming Mila on a daily basis! How cool is that!

I also just found out the following professional athletes/trainers that are distributors for Lifemax!

Tony Medlin = Head trainer of Chicago Bears
Andre Rison = NFL Super Bowl XXXI Player with the Green Bay Packers
Brian Gaye = Pro Golfer and recently won Heritage Open
Cole Hamels = Starting pitcher for Philadelphia Phillies
Bret Meyers = Philadelphia Phillies Professional Baseball Player
Carina Petroni = Professional Surfer

What is Mila? Great question, my nutritionist gave it two thumbs up and jumped on board immediately! You can hear that story on my prerecorded 7 min call with Chris Prefontaine, the number one income earner in Lifemax.

641-715-3900 95035#

It really is only 7 mins, I know it is not a free call but you should listen, Chris's story is incredible.

Mila has the highest and safest combination of Omega - 3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fiber and phytonutriets of any other source on the planet! Mila is a mixture of Salvia hispanica L seed. I know what is that and why do I care, that is what I said! Then I did my homework, AHA, I get it now.

Mila is gluten free, trans fat free sugar free high in fiber and protein, and has no taste or smell, that is why I love it, you can add it to anything and cook with it and it does change the nutritional value, amazing! With 5 kids, if I can make pizza healthy I am going to do it!

Mila has 700% more Omega 3 than salmon! 500% more Calcium than milk, the list goes on and on.

ACT LIKE A LADY THINK LIKE A MAN

I just started reading this book, very insightful and super funny! Steve Harvey the comedian wrote this book.

What every women need to know about men, there basic DNA;

1.) Everything he does is filtered through his title - Who he is

2.) How he gets his title - What he does

3.) And the reward he gets for the effort - How much he makes

Few essential truths: men are driven by who they are, what they do, and how much they make, and until heis achieved his goal in those three areas, the man you are dating, committed to, or married to will be to busy to focus on you!

Interesting huh?

WHY THIS BLOG MAY BE OF IMPORTANCE TO YOU

I am new to blogging, clearly if you look at the postings. Having 5 kids, 4 teenagers and a baby can keep you pretty busy and I have the luxury of working from home. But I tell you sometimes I wish that I didnt! I can bring a whole new meaning to cabin fever! If you are a mom reading this I am sure that you can relate.

The purpose of my blog is to empower moms. With a coaching and speaking background, I have been privileged to coach, speak and train some amazing people, alot of them wonderful hard working moms. If your not a mom and are reading this, I am sure you know a few moms that may find this post of interest.

I have been on Facebook for a while now and having lots of fun reconnecting with friends and started on Twitter a few weeks ago, talk about a learning curve! What I was finding was a lot moms looking for support, a lot of moms looking for work, and I have connected with several stay at home moms who's husbands have lost their jobs and are looking into home based businesses. For many moms this is really scary, especially if you have never ran your own business before or they think they have to sell something. I have a background in sales so it easy for me to understand their fears, I was never comfortable with "sales" persay, however I found when you believe in your product and/or service the sale part comes easy. No one likes to be sold but everyone likes to buy right?

I was introduced to a company called Lifemax a few months ago by a very well respected friend of mine in the real estate industry who is already running 5 businesses, how crazy is that? I did my due dilengence, which you should too, and realized there are a lot of moms I could help with this company. The two main reasons being, getting our kids healthy, and teaching moms how to create wealth by jumping on board with a company that is already breaking industry records and the train has not left the building.

Take 5 mins and go to www.legacyposition.com and let me know if this makes sense to you. My goal is to inspire, motivate, and empower moms across the US and Canada before we take this whole raw food product around the globe. Currently we are looking for strong leadership because we are so new, and it is absolutely ok if you do not want to be in a leadership role. Maybe you just want to make an extra $500 a month, I can show you how. Our system is very duplicatable. Simple easy and most important fun!

Thank you for your time, I know how busy you must be. I look forward to hearing from you and following my blog!

The two year story

The two-year story.

Imagine you're at work one day... and your boss comes to you and says,
"Bad news, we're going to have to fire you. Business is bad. And the economy stinks."

You feel depressed. No more career. No more regular paychecks.

And then the boss says, "You know what? If you were to work just one extra hour overtime every day for free, from 5 pm. to 6 pm., Monday through Friday, we'll let you keep your job and you can continue collecting your same paycheck."

Now, what would you do?

Well, most people would say, "Well, I will work the extra hour of overtime just to keep my job. I know I will be working the extra hour for free, but it is important to keep my present job."

And then the boss says, "Well, I know it's kind of bad news for you but there is some good news. If you work an hour of overtime, Monday through Friday for no pay, just one extra hour a day... at the end of two years, we'll let you retire at full pay."

All of a sudden, how do you feel?

You feel like saying,

"Wow! Excellent! What an opportunity! Just work one hour overtime for free, Monday through Friday, and two years from now... I retire at full pay!"

So what would happen?

You're working overtime and six months later one of your friends says,
"Hey, why don't you quit doing that? You're working an hour overtime and not getting paid for it."

You say to your friend, "No way! I only have 18 more months to go and then I'm going to retire!"

A year from now, maybe your spouse says, "You know what, dear? You've been working that free hour of overtime for the past 12 months. Why don't you spend more time here at home instead of working that hour overtime?"

You say, "No, no, no! Just one more year and I can retire at full pay."

And you would be at work faithfully, Monday through Friday, working that overtime so you could retire. And you would be excited about the opportunity.

Well, we have the same opportunity to retire with our network marketing business.

We ask people to spend one hour a day, Monday through Friday building a network marketing business. And all you have to do is... talk to some people.

And you don't have to worry too much about what you say or how good you are, because you know what? You'll get better. The longer you do network marketing, the more you'll learn.

So maybe after the first month you say, "Gee, I really don't know what to say."

The second month you get a little better and say, "Well, I know the name of the company is the Wonderful Company.”

The third month you get better at this and say, "I think this is a neat business. You might want to look at it."

And the fourth month you get better and better.

Just invest an hour a day. And at the end of two years you might be pleasantly surprised and say, "You know what, I can replace my full-time income and retire for the rest of my life."

So... would you take advantage of that opportunity?

If you are like most people, you will want to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity... but, you won’t do it.

Here is why you won’t do it:

A little voice inside of your head is saying, “But what if it doesn’t work? What if I waste an hour a day over those two years? What if I’m not good at this? I don’t know anyone who has retired in network marketing. I only know people who retired with a pension from a job. This might not be a sure thing.”

Yes, you’re going to have some doubt. You will have a belief problem.
And that's pretty natural.

So here is what we are going to do to help you with your belief. To encourage you along the way, every so often we're going to send you a check in the mail -- just to keep your spirits up as you build your two-year business.

When you get these occasional checks, you will say, "I know it works! I've got these checks to prove it."

And that is why you want to start your business today. - Tom (big Al) Schreiter

ok so what is Mila?

No one has heard of this so I thought I would briefly tell what it is and how you can incorporate this into your families meals without having to change a thing.

Mila is distributed through a company called Lifemax. It is the only product they sell. Unlike most network marketing companies, Lifemax is the only company distributing a whole raw food. It is not a lotion, skin care, vitamin or juice drink.

Mila comes in a powder form that is tasteless and orderless so you can just about add it to anything! Mila is a form of chia, no not like the pet, but that was the first thing I thought too! According to Dr. Wayne Coates that discovered this seed, chia is a very complete food. It provides the human body witha mix of high concentrations of omega - 3 and both soluble and insoluble fibers. Additionally, the seed contains high levels of protein and antioxidants.

How you can sneak Mila into your kids food!

Because Mila is tasteless is makes it really easy to sneak into your kids food. No smell either! Mila is gluten-free, trans-fat free, sugar-free, high in fiber and protein. The super cool thing I love about this is that its supreme biological properties are not diminished by heat, so you can bake with it or put in your favorite recipes, can you say healthy chocalate chip cookies! Now there is such a thing in our house!

I am in the process of writing a cookbook, so look for all my Mila recipes coming soon! My friend just made vegan Mila brownies, I will get the recipe from her and post as soon as I can! For now mix Mila in your favorite smoothie, mix with yogurt, in cereal or oatmeal, makes great guacamole, I post that recipe too!

You can learn more about this great product and how to get it by visiting my website at www.tammyb.lifemax.net

Cheers!

My first blog!

We all know the health of our nation is not good. Many of us have children that are growing up on fast food, I have 4 teenagers so I know! I love to cook and cook healthy if I can. Out of the 7 of us, I have two good veggie eaters, my 21 month old baby and my 13 year old son, the rest of them including my husband I have to sneak it in. Often I puree the veggies and then put them in the enchiladas, mashed potatoes, whole wheat pasta dishes, and even the baked goods. But they are on to me and often say "so mom what did you sneak in here this time?"

So I was thrilled when a good friend of mine came to me telling me about a product called Mila. Mila has the highest and safest combination of Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fiber and phytonutrients of any source on the planet. It is non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) and pesticide-free. But that is not the best part, it is completely tasteless with no smell and you can put it in many foods, juices, and smoothies.

My family is now getting more nutrition in their diets and they dont even know it!

Mila is gluten-free, trans-fat free, sugar free and high in fiber and protein. This is a whole raw food that is safe for everyone, I even give it to my baby!

Mila is a mixture of Salvia hispanica L. seed which has been carefully selected to maximize its nutritional value. It is a form of chia. You can find out more about the product by visiting my website www.tammyb.lifemax.net
